The MS4G Project in Rufachancho, Aletachuko Woreda, Sidama Region, is a fully solarized water pumping and dispensing system. It includes 26 × 555W solar panels (totaling 14.43 kW) and an 11 kW Lorentz controller that powers a Lorentz SmartTAP water dispenser.
What makes this system innovative is its use of NFC (Near Field Communication) smart cards—contactless cards that store prepaid credit. Community members simply tap their card on the dispenser to collect water, enabling a fair, trackable, and cashless water distribution system. This off-grid setup ensures sustainability, easy access, and improved water management for rural users.
